About Me

About Me

My name is Andy with a wife and 5 kids (2 step sons, 1 daughter and twin boys). I currently live in Colorado and am originally from Minnesota. I went to college in California at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA. I grew up mountain biking, riding dirt bikes, and playing sports on highly competitive teams in baseball and hockey. I was really good at math and science and decided to go to college for manufacturing engineering and received a degree after 4.5 years. After working in aerospace at my first job I became obsessed with investing and financial markets and would listen non-stop to people on YouTube looking for any sort of information that could better me as an investor. After many years of listening to many pundits tell me predictions and repeatedly make calls that were wrong I decided to look at the markets myself using data and charting. I started a YouTube channel called Finding Value Finance in August 2020 when a guy at work asked me about real estate. All of the people on YouTube were calling for a crash and I disagreed with them and started the channel. I have a twitter account as well and you can follow me on @finding_finance.

I do own a few rotary cars (RX-7 FD and RX-8). I installed a larger turbo on the rx-7 and tuned the car myself with the an Apexi PowerFC. I usually try to get out on the track during the summer and fall and have always worked out after turning 16 years old. These are all integral to my life with my family. My passions are learning about the financial markets and teaching. I really hope to make a lasting impression on everyone who joins and progress your investment journey in a positive way.

I created this website to educate people on how to find value in the markets. I use a three pillar approach to investing which includes Ratios, Market Conditions, and Technical Investing.

Ratios

Ratios tell us value when you compare one asset to another. It allows us to compare its relative value over time and if we can identify when assets are relatively cheap it allows us to invest in the cheapest assets in the world. Right now commodities are cheap in relationship to other assets in the world like stocks and bonds and provide a great opportunity for investment. Other commodity sectors offer large value and leverage to price moves in the future.

Market Conditions

Market conditions change and investment money flows change along with it. Inflation is apart of the market conditions and it comes from the real estate cycle or business cycle (the same thing). Given this 8-9 year cycle money rotates between assets because of inflation which impacts interest rates and rotates money between assets differently. We are entering an inflationary period where money will move differently and rotate into commodities and away from bonds and potentially away from stocks with higher interest rates putting pressure on those investment sectors.

Technical Analysis

Technical analysis allows us to gauge human behavior and how people are positioning in assets for the long term. Long term chart patterns allow us to chart the fundamental picture and see when stocks are going to turn up or down based off trendlines and chart patterns. The chart patterns work great for longer term picture views and become less reliable as the timeframe shrinks.

I look for alignment between ratios, market conditions and technical analysis for potential investment opportunities in the markets and show you what I look at. It includes market balance of commodities, cost curves, ratios, asymmetric opportunities, etc and that is what you will learn when joining this website. It teaches you what to look for when evaluating potential investment opportunities.

Join me on the website to further your investment education and to ride this bull market together.
